"Albert Müller (Swiss, 1897 - 1926) wasn’t just painting children; he was painting the electric unease of being seen. He painted furiously, becoming a key figure in the radical Rot-Blau circle. Rumor has it he quite literally painted faster than anyone knew. Experiments with paint, glass, and drafting honed Müller's sense of vibration and detail, replacing volume with Expressionist defiance in his works. Here, a child glows against a rhythmic background, inviting the viewer to walk a tightrope between charm and confrontation."
