A lesser-known Expressionist from Mannheim, he brought slashing lines and bruised hues to still life - this isn’t nature morte, it’s nature on edge. The bloom sags under cosmic weight, wilting into something weirdly noble. One could imagine it muttering something in German about the futility of joy."
