The Maiden by Gustav Klimt
The Curatorial Note (inside front cover)
"Gustav Klimt (Austrian, 1862–1918) combined erotic symbolism with Art Nouveau elegance in a dreamlike epic. He didn’t just paint women - he painted the space between girlhood and goddess. Here, youth, sexuality, and regeneration flow in one continuous, swirling form. The central figure and her cohorts embody life stages, fertility, and transformation - lined up in a kaleidoscope of womanhood. Klimt named this piece among his final works and entrusted it to the National Gallery in Prague, where it became a touchstone of symbolic exploration."
